“Day One” is a beginning. “Day One” of school . . . a diet . . . a new relationship . . . a rediscovered relationship . . . an exercise program . . . a new job. “Day One” is filled with enthusiasm, promise and possibilities. It is energized with a can-do mentality that nothing can get in the way of success. Barriers to the goal are non-existent or at least manageable.
Sometimes our “Day One” is sparked by a period of frustration and the need for change. It can offer us fresh start and a chance for a new beginning.
After the enthusiasm of “Day One” subsides the reality of our goal and its challenges set in. We allow the obstructions into focus and those obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off the goal. The eagerness turns to lack of interest after a few days. Indifference sets in, inaction takes hold and we feel defeated because we couldn’t fulfill our commitment to ourselves. Doubt takes over and all the great intentions we set on “Day One” turn to failures in our mind. Our action comes to a screeching halt.
Imagine for a moment that all your “Day Ones” happen one after the other. Day after day you live with that enthusiasm and commitment. You wake up each day knowing that THIS IS DAY ONE! What would your success be with less time between your “Day Ones?” Think of your accomplishments and the momentum you would build. You would be unstoppable!
We can have a “Day One” any time we choose. “Day Ones” are preceded by some kind of inaction. It is our doubts and limiting beliefs that stop us from taking action. Become aware of those obstacles that bring you to a halt, face them and take action, even if it’s not “Day One” action. By taking action you keep moving and progressing. Each day you move forward builds momentum and brings you closer to success. How great it would be if every day of our week could be filled with the accomplishments of “Day One”!
