What I know for sure…
The two most important areas of my life are raising my family and growing myself. I made each of them important at different points during my life. Over time I realized that they were not mutually exclusive. They were both a big part of me. Trying to separate them left a void in my life and in the life of those most important to me.
I earned a degree… now what?
After graduating from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s in Communications, I entered the high pressure world of medical marketing and advertising, first as an account executive and then on the client side in Marketing and Sales.
My priorities changed with the birth of my first child. When I returned to work, I was unable to focus on my job. When I was at work, I wanted to be at home to care for my son. When I was at home, I wanted to be at work. A total conflict!
At that time, being a parent and raising my children was primary, so I decided to leave my executive position. The choice to be at home more and work locally and part-time was only a piece of the puzzle. I was a consultant for Engelhard Corporation and worked with my pharmacist husband in owning and managing The Blairstown Pharmacy & BlairCare. Along the way I became a Mary Kay and Longaberger Consultant. At first it was to purchase the products I loved direct. Over time, I built a viable part-time business by “coaching” the women on my team in personal growth and to have the businesses they wanted. This experience contributed to the knowledge and experience I now share with other women.
I’m grateful I finally responded to my inner whispers suggesting I change direction to do what I truly love every day. I took action to change my career path, train as a coach, and experience the fulfillment of helping others to improve their lives. Ansen Leadership Development is my business and the culmination of my learning and thinking about how best to share the values and successes that have shaped my life.
In addition I’m able to support parents and families by facilitating Positive Parenting Classes with the Community Prevention Resources of Warren County and teach 9th Grade Confirmation Preparation at St. Mark’s Church.
This is how I put the pieces together! I share my experiences through coaching, so other women in business can find the pieces of their puzzle and see their complete, unified and peaceful picture.
